Q. How hot does it get in the summer?
A. At an elevation of 4540 feet, Tombstone stays around 10 degrees cooler than Phoenix and Tucson. On our Directions page you can check out the three day forecast.
Q. What kind of wildlife is there in Tombstone?
A. Tombstone is considered a wild desert habitat which is home to many varieties of birds including quail and roadrunners in addition to coyotes, javelinas, deer, rabbits, and a bevy of other desert animals.
Q. What's a Javelina?
A. A Javelina, while resembling a wild pig, is actually a member of the rodent family and can grow to between 50-60 pounds. While they have terrible eyesight, they do have a keen sense of smell.
Q. Do Roadrunners fly?
A. Yes!
Q. Other than gunfights, what is there to do around Tombstone?
A. Horseback riding, birdwatching, jeep tours, ghost towns, golf - you name it, there are a variety of activities in the area. Special activities are also planned for special event weekends. Q. How come my cell phone wont work?
A. Welcome to the high desert - due to terrain and lack of towers, many cell phones cannot receive transmission in the Tombstone area. The best attempts are made in wide open spaces on higher ground.
Q. How late does everything stay open?
A. Most of the shops and museums in the historic section of town are open 7 days a week but they do close in the late afternoon. Restaurants and drinking establishments stay open later into the evening.
Q. Can we build a fire to cook hot dogs and roast marshmallows?
A. You bet you can! Many spots have bbq grills and fire rings are available by request. All fires must be contained within the park. You bring the wood!
Q. Do the cabins have bathrooms?
A. No, the cabins are rustic camping cabins designed for individuals and families without tents or recreational vehicles but still would like to enjoy the camping experience. Our grounds do have community bathrooms and showers for your use.
Q. Can I bring my dog?
A. Sure! We are pet friendly at Tombstone RV Park & Resort. We do ask that you keep your dog on a leash and clean up after him or her. We even have a pet run area as well.
Q. When does the shuttle run?
A. Except for holiday and special event weekends, we pretty much run the shuttle according to your schedule between 8:30am and 6:30pm each day. Give us a few minutes notice and we will be ready to take you to town. A simple phone call of where and when you would like to be pick up and we are on our way.
Q. Is there hiking nearby?
A. Whether you are looking for a leisurely desert walk or a rock climbing expedition, we have it here in Tombstone. At the edge of the resort property is a large wash with trails that lead to Ed Schieffelin Monument as well as trails leading into town. In front of the resort, rests the Dragoon Mountains which many hiking and rock climbing groups enjoy because of the wide variety of terrain and difficulty - ranging from beginner to advanced.
Q. Can I use my television antenna?
A. Well you might be able to get one station but Tombstone RV Park & Resort has cable television hooks up with a wide variety of stations.
Q. How far are you from Tombstone?
A. We are located at Mile Marker 315 on Hwy 80 as you arrive in Tombstone from Benson. We are about one mile from the historical section of town and less than a mile away from Boot Hill. We do provide a free shuttle service from the park to the historic area of town.
Q. Can I wash my car/rv/motorcycle while I am there?
A. We believe in water conservation and ask that you would use the car wash down the street to wash your vehicles. We do not allow the washing of vehicles at Tombstone RV Park & Resort.
Q. If we come for the entire winter, can we get a phone?
A. A limited number of our monthly sites in the rear of the resort are available for phone service. Please make your reservation today as these sites go quick.
Q. Do you rent horses?
A. No. However, there is horseback riding available in the area. Check out our directory for all details.
Q. Can I bring my own horse?
A. Sure, but we do not have corrals for them here. You will need to find boarding elsewhere.
Q. How long are the bathrooms open?
A. Our bathrooms are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week except for the time that we spend cleaning them every day.
Q. How soon should I make my reservations?
A. That depends on when you plan on coming down. We already have quite a few reservations from returning guests for next winter. People began signing up for Helldorado this October, last October. So if you plan to come for the winter or during a special event or holiday weekend, you will want to make your reservation as soon in advance as possible as these are our busiest times each year.
Q. Do you offer any discounts?
A. We offer 10 percent discounts to Good Sam members, AARP members, AAA members and members of our armed forces with reservations. Discounts, however, are not available on special event weekends like Helldorado. Our guests also enjoy a 10 percent discount on propane they purchase at Tombstone RV Park & Resort LLC as well as 10 percent discounts at several local restaurants including The Crazy Horse Saloon & Steakhouse at Six Gun CIty, The Longhorn, OK Cafe and The Lamplight Room with their paid receipt from Tombstone RV Park & Resort.
Q. Do you sell stamps?
A. Yes, we do! We have stamps for postcards, stamps for letters and stamps for international addresses as well. After you are finished, just put your outgoing mail in the post box and we will make sure it is postmarked Tombstone.
Q. Is internet service available?
A. Tombstone RV Park & Resort now offers High Speed Internet WiFi Service throughout the park. You are also more than welcome to bring your laptop to our office and plug your modem into our phone line. We provide the line, you provide the ISP. Those with space accomodating phone service can choose from a number of dial up providers in the area. T-1, DSL and cable internet is now available in Tombstone.
Q. Where's the supermarket in town?
A. Tombstone unfortunately does not have a large grocery store in town. However Tombstone RV Park & Resort does carry a wide variety of grocery and sundry items as well as RV Supplies and Souvenirs. The nearest large shopping area is Sierra Vista which is 16 miles away via a short cut on Old Charleston Road.
